New Mexico Water Dialogue

Group to talk about the future of New Mexico Water Planning

Water experts and community members from around New Mexico will gather in Albuquerque Jan. 12, 2017, for the New Mexico Water Dialogue's 23rd annual statewide meeting - Toward a More Relevant State Water Plan.

The day-long meeting comes as the state's Interstate Stream Commission begins development of a State Water Plan, the culmination of several years' work developing regional water plans across the state. Speakers include the University of New Mexico's John Fleck, director of the UNM Water Resources Program, and Adrian Oglesby, director of the Utton Transboundary Resource Center at the UNM School of Law.

The water planning process to date has identified significant gaps between long term water supplies and communities' estimated demand for water in the future.

Advance registration is encouraged. A limited number of student scholarships to cover the meeting's cost are available. Those interested should contact Joaquin Baca at 505 417-6689 or joaquin_baca@fws.gov for more information.
